At birth: BCG/ OPV0/Hep B1
6 weeks:DPT1/OPV1/Hib1/Hep B2
10 weeks:DPT2/OPV2/Hib2/Hep B3
14 weeks: DPT3/OPV3/ Hib3
9 months: Measles / OPV4
15 -18 months: MMR
18months to 2 years: DPT/OPV/Hib booster(1)
4 1/2 years to 5 years: DPT/OPV booster(2)
vaccines to be given in consultation with parents.
Rota virus vaccine: 2 doses, 4 weeks apart, for below 6 months.
Injectable polio: primary dose ( 6,10,14 weeks) booster at 1 1/2 to 2 years.
Chicken pox vaccine between15 months & 13 years.
after 13 year -2 doses at 1 month interval.
Hepatatis A: after 1 1/2 years--2 doses--6 months apart.

What are vaccines?
Vaccines are drops or injections given to prevent certain diseases
Is it complusary to vaccinate?
Vaccines are for prevention of certain diseases. it is in our interest and benefit that we are vaccinated.
Are all vaccines necessary?
No. You are free to choose the diseases you want to be protected from. I would like to protect myself from all the diseases for which vaccines are available. Decide in consultation with the doctor.
Are vaccines effective?
Yes.Most of the vaccines are very effective, Some are less effective, but that should not discourage us from vaccination

Are vaccines given in camps effective?
Vaccines which are genuine ,stored properly, administered by authorised and qualified person has to be effective.
It is for the patient to verify the authenticity of the camps. you can consult your family doctor for advice.
Apart from the small financial benefit ,there is no advantage of giving vaccines in camps.
Is it important to follow the vaccination dates strictly?
Yes... Vaccines give optimum protection if its give on time, however certain adjustments can be made in consultation with your doctor.
Is vaccination necessary for adults?
Certain vaccines like Hepatitis A,Hepatis B, Typhoid, and sometimes chicken pox are necessary for adults.
Do all vaccines cause fever?

Is pulse polio different from routine polio drops?
The drops used in pulse polio and routine polio vaccination is the same (some times the pulse polio is monovalent). the day on which pulse polio is given is important. So dont miss the day.
Pulse polio is an attempt to eradicate polio from our country. it is possible only when all the children in our country, who are below 5 years of age are administered polio drops on the same day.
What will happen if i miss pulse polio?
Your child mising the dose contributes to the failure of the polio eradication project.
Can i vaccinate my child when he/she is not well?
Child with simple cold cough can be vaccinated. it is better to leave the decision to the doctor.
Are optional vaccines like Hepatitis A &B , chicken pox,HIB compulsary?
Optional vaccines are costly and hence labeled as optional. All vaccines are important.
Are vaccines painful?
No.
